Headteacher’s Welcome
Welcome to Eton Dorney Independent Therapeutic School
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Eton Dorney Independent Therapeutic School which is a specialist provision catering for pupils in years 4-11 (ages 8-16) who may have Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties and/or Diagnoses of Autism or an associated condition.
Eton Dorney is a caring school where the young people are warmly received and encouraged to “aim high”, fulfil their potential and engage with opportunities where everything is possible. I feel very privileged to have been given the opportunity to lead this incredible school and we as a team are fully committed to providing a supportive environment where pupils enjoy learning, feel safe and are understood. Families make an important contribution to their child’s development and achievement in school and from my experience a happy and successful child depends on us all working together.
I know that education has the power to positively influence children’s lives. We are dedicated to serving our young people, to building opportunities for every student to achieve their full potential, both in academics and in life skills, that they are known well as individuals and that their unique personality, talents, and interests are nurtured and developed to the fullest and that this in turn will prepare their lives ready for beyond school.
At Eton Dorney, education is about developing the whole child through a safe, creative, and inspiring learning environment, providing opportunities for every individual to thrive within and beyond the classroom. The staffing team here work closely with parents and other professionals to make the most of a child’s strengths and interests, ensuring that they feel engaged, happy, and safe, enabling them to maximise their individual potential. We have the highest expectation and are committed to seeing each young person build self-esteem, resilience, confidence, and independence within our whole school community in an atmosphere where everyone is valued, and individual achievement and success is always acknowledged and celebrated. We aim to establish an educational community built on trust, respect, openness, honesty, compassion, excellent communication, integrity, and a deep sense of doing what is right for our pupils and in turn they are ready to take on an active responsible part in society.
We believe that we must establish a genuine partnership between home and school. We pride ourselves on open communication, so if you have any questions about any aspect of this website or school life, please do not hesitate to contact us as this website can only give you a glimpse of what Eton Dorney Independent Therapeutic school has to offer.
I look forward to meeting you.
Warmest regards
