Primary and Secondary

As an all through school, our curriculum flows from Primary to Key stage 4, building on knowledge and skills learned at each phase. We use the National Curriculum and adapt this to meet the needs of pupils in all pathways. Please see our curriculum overview for details.

 

 

Primary Learning

Our Primary learning follows the National curriculum and an adapted national curriculum.

The curriculum is delivered through a thematic, play based and exploratory approach, and is highly adapted to inculcate the interest of pupils to ensure an irresistible invitation to learn.

Key Stage 3

We follow the National Curriculum and an Adapted National curriculum in Key stage 3 programs of study to build the foundation for qualifications and course work. Our Primary pupils transition into a secondary transition class where the transfer from primary to secondary is managed in a planned and supported way.

Key Stage 4

At Key stage 4, we offer qualifications at the GCSE level – Foundation and Higher levels, Functional Skills level, Entry level, and through different ASDAN qualifications. Our students successfully gain qualifications by the end of Key stage 4.

Key Stage 4 Tiers of Entry, Grades and Equivalents

 

Where there are two tiers of entry available, there will be a Higher and Foundation paper, The Higher tier gives access to achieving grades 9 to 4. The Foundation tier gives access to achieving grades 5 to 1.

Ofqual, has provided guidance on the translation of letter grades to the new number grade format.

 

•             Foundation covers grades 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 

•             Higher covering grades 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3
