Promoting British Values
Fundamental British Values
At Eton Dorney School we will be promoting the Core British Values in our daily teaching.
These core values are:
• Democracy
• Rule of Law
• Tolerance of cultures and religions
• Mutual respect
• Liberty
At Eton Dorney School, everything we do in terms of the ethos we create and the curriculum we deliver is designed to support these values, each of which is covered in the statement above. At the same time, we acknowledge that these values are not exclusive to those who would describe themselves as “British” and do, in fact, represent the values to which every member of society should subscribe.
1. Recognising each child’s entitlement to a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum.
2. Recognising each child’s entitlement to good quality education.
3. Developing each child’s independence and self-advocacy.
4. Providing a safe, secure, and happy environment for teaching and learning to take place.
5. Ensure maximum participation by parents, carers, proprietors, and other carers/agencies as required.
6. Realising the entitlement of all pupils to have their achievements recognised, recorded, and reported.
7. Ensure that appropriate resources and facilities are available.
8. Ensure every pupil’s spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development.
9. Developing pupil voice and understanding that each person is valued
10. Helping pupils understand a range of faiths and beliefs.
