PSHE & RSE and Citizenship
PSHE (Personal, Social, Health Education) and RSE (Relationships and Sex Education) form a core part of our Personal Development program at Eton Dorney school and is delivered through regular, planned, and timetabled lessons. Working closely with parents, our curriculum and learning schedule is also adapted whenever required to meet the needs of our own pupils.
Our lessons provide a platform for our pupils of all ages to develop values, knowledge, skills, and attributes needed for their holistic development now, for their next steps, and in their future. The knowledge, skills and attributes acquired help students form and maintain healthy relationships, stay healthy, safe, and prepare them for life, whether education, employment, or training.
The delivery of PSHE & RSE is student centered and promotes personal pupil progress through exploring their existing knowledge, understanding, and beliefs. Pupil progress is also achieved by clarifying misconceptions, building on existing knowledge and skills, and developing awareness of a wider range of attitudes and values.
Our school follows the PSHE Association program, with learning complimented by a variety of resources from Jigsaw PSHE, BBC Teach RSE, NSPCC learning, School Wellbeing, TES, NHS resources, TALKABOUT, and other resources relevant to our pupils needs and the existing cohort.
Citizenship is taught using a variety of programs and resources including ASDAN qualifications, Votes for Schools, and PSHE association resources.
